On Friday 6th October, Baħrija Primary School re-launched their Reading Club for this scholastic year 2017-2018. During the launch, each child who attended last year’s sessions was presented with a book, donated by the National Literacy Agency.
Mr David Muscat, the Agency’s CEO was present to give out the books after a short interactive literacy session was held with the pupils present. During this event Mr Muscat presented new Big Books and resources in Maltese to the school’s Year 3 teacher, Ms Muscat.
During this year students from Year 1 to Year 6 will be attending organised sessions in their school library and together with an educator explore new books and experience new authors. The club ‘Minn Qoxra sa Qoxra’ saw its inception last March where the students, together with the reading animators, Ms Claudia Cini and Ms Claire Vella, were engaged in discussions, reading activities, interactive games and role play related to the books, among other activities.
The students’ favourite books included literacy works by Roald Dahl, Nathalie Portelli, Julia Donaldson and Charles Casha among others.
